Digital Asset Management (DAM)
Explaining Digital Asset Managers
What is a Digital Asset Manager?
Digital asset management (DAM) tools are used by brands to house and maintain repositories of media files such as images, videos and brand guidelines. DAMs are designed so that users can easily access current digital assets.
Why are Digital Asset Managers important?
DAMs are extremely valuable for brands with a lot of images, brand assets and/or a lot of stakeholders who require access to some, or all, of the same files.
A DAM tool is an absolute must for any brand or company dabbling or dominating digital. In 2003, you might be happy to manage your digital assets on a floppy disk or portable hard drive, but since 2017 — everything’s gone the way of the cloud. Because of this, it is possible to share, edit, approve, store, find your images, documents, videos and content all in one spot.
By housing these assets in a universally accessible location brands allow themselves to have a single source of truth for their digital assets while also allowing for control over who has assets and what they can do with them.
